Why you should have a videographer on your wedding day

Wedding Planning - 20.11.17

The magic of your wedding day is like no other – friends and family gathered together to celebrate the beginning of the rest of your life with your partner. A great amount of planning is needed for your special day, from the dresses and the caterer to the guest list and writing your wedding vows. That of course is just the tip of the iceberg – the memories to come after your wedding day are important to think about as well. There’s no doubt that a wedding photographer will capture still moments that you’ll cherish forever, but have ever thought about the kaleidoscope of memories a videographer can provide?

Here at Combermere Abbey, we see plenty of wedding films created that have captured the bridal and groom preparations before the ceremony, the flower girls and page boys playing together in the gardens and the magical atmosphere as the ‘I dos’ ring out in the Glasshouse. There are moments in a video that you wouldn’t necessarily see in a photograph: the “first look” is always treasured, but imagine the reactions recorded in real time – we love nothing more than seeing the facial expressions on the guests, family and groom change when our Combermere Abbey couples make their appearance. A wedding videographer can capture that first smile that breaks on your face as your partner walks into the room or as the father of the bride sheds a tear of happiness as he walks her down the aisle.

If you’re worried about a wedding videographer causing a distraction, we know from experience that you’ll be thinking about so many other things. A wedding videographer’s job is to blend in and be discreet – capturing the natural progression of your special day.

There are so many different styles of filming you can choose for your big day, take a look at sample videos to see the type you would be most comfortable with. It all depends on you – some like music in the background and others prefer a documentary style with a narration. It can be totally bespoke to fit the tone of your wedding. We’ve seen some amazing films created at Combermere Abbey weddings from Marry Me FilmsJo Gendle Films and Appleyard Productions – they’ll definitely complete your Combermere wedding.

A video will transport you back in time – you can relive every moment as though it was just yesterday. Perhaps at your wedding, you’ll share a joke with your grandfather, dance with a flower girl or throw your bouquet for your bridesmaids – moments to be captured on film for you to keep forever. In years to come we’re sure you’d appreciate the sentimentality a wedding video brings and how it can be watched by future generations – passing on the magic and joy of your special day.  It’s also the perfect opportunity for those who couldn’t attend your wedding, to immerse themselves in the celebrations so they can truly feel the atmosphere as though they were there.

Jill and Richard of Marry Me Films highlight just how treasured a wedding video can be and we couldn’t agree more, “Sure photographs will always be a good reminder of a wonderful day but a magical DVD that encapsulates the essence of your perfect day; well you cannot put a price on it.”

If you’re thinking of hiring a videographer for your Combermere wedding, get in touch – we’d be happy to help you find the perfect match!
