With a rich history dating back to the 1100’s, Combermere Abbey is a privately owned historic house which runs a hospitality, tourism and wedding and corporate event business based on the border of Cheshire and Shropshire, between Whitchurch and Nantwich. In addition, Combermere Abbey opens to the public on published dates for tours of the House and Gardens, as well as hosted events.

What will this role of Housekeeper/Cleaner entail?

This includes the luxury North Wing Bed & Breakfast, public tours and private activities. We require a high standard of housekeeping skills (domestic cleaning, laundry etc); responsibility for handling antiques and historic objects; socially outgoing and trustworthy personality; comfortable with animals.

This role will also offer variety and interaction with guests, visitors and clients ensuring that every stay is memorable and of the highest standard. During corporate events, you’ll meet and greet guests, serve cakes, coffees and other refreshments. You’ll support the House Manager with food preparation, cooking and serving breakfast to guests in the North Wing. You will prepare the House for any private events and house parties held during the year.

What will I need in order to be considered for this role?

  • Experience as an executive cleaner or housekeeper
  • Own transport is essential due to rural location
  • Dog friendly – we have two labradors
  • A professional presentation and attitude, with a customer-orientated and friendly outlook
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team, and manage and prioritise tasks
  • Basic computer skills to handle ad-hoc bookings, payments and sending emails

If successful, you must be prepared to gain a Food Hygiene Certificate, if you do not have one already.

This role is a permanent part-time contract, working up to 30 hours per week, 5 days out of 7, which includes bank holidays and weekend. Working hours will alternate between 9am-3:30pm and 7:30am-2pm.

All applications are to be submitted by email to estate@combermereabbey.co.uk – no agency calls or agency CV submissions.

Housekeeping Vacancies

Combermere Abbey is an award-winning wedding venue with self-catering holiday accommodation, located between Nantwich & Whitchurch. As we move into the start of our wedding season, we are looking to extend our team of cleaners who help maintain our fabulous venue and accommodation.

The hours will primarily be weekends, so would suit students, but extra hours may also be available during the week. Usual hours of work are between 7am and 4pm.

No experience is necessary as full training will be provided, but you will be expected to clean to the highest of standards.

All general duties include vacuuming, dusting, mopping, cleaning kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms, and cleaning outside areas, including windows.

Some lifting is required, and due to the rural location of the venue, a full driving license and own transport is essential.

To apply, please email your CV with a covering letter to Lara Andrews, operations@combermereabbey.co.uk
