Be welcomed to your cottage with a beautifully decorated Christmas Tree, just waiting for you to place your presents underneath.

As a gift from us to you, a handpicked hamper of festive treats awaits you.

Explore our stunning grounds & relax

A Christmas stay at Combermere Abbey invokes the desire to wrap up warm, explore the natural surroundings of the estate strolling through our ancient woodlands and exploring the Pleasure Gardens, before returning to your cottage to unwind with a mince pie and a festive tipple.

Can I bring my dog?

Absolutely! Your dog will be very welcome to stay in our cottages over the Christmas Break – don’t forget to add them on when booking your stay. We welcome either one large dog or two small dogs per cottage – please see our dog policy for more information.

How long can we book for?

Our Christmas breaks for 2025 are available for a 4 night stay, arriving on Tuesday 23rd December 2025.

When can we arrive for our stay?

Our cottages will be available to arrive from 4pm on Tuesday 23rd December, and departure is 10am on Saturday 27th December 2025.

Can I book more than one cottage?

Of course, you can book multiple cottages for the Christmas break, and celebrate with wider family or friends.

Booking a combination of cottages can also provide you a larger dining space to all come together:

  • Poole & Empress Cottages can be booked together, allowing up to 8 people to dine together in Poole Cottage
  • Beckett Cottage benefits from a large dining table which can seat up to 20 people, and is ideal when booked in conjunction with another cottage.
Do you provide a Christmas tree?

Yes! We will have a Christmas Tree decorated ready for your arrival, and a beautiful wreath will welcome you through to your cottage.

Can I still cook Christmas dinner?

Of course you can. All our cottages have a fully equipped kitchen, ensuring that you can escape to Combermere Abbey for Christmas, but still enjoy the luxuries of your freshly prepared Christmas dinner.

Are there options nearby to go out for Christmas lunch?

Sitting on the Cheshire/Shropshire border, we are blessed with a wide range of pubs and restaurants close by, however the Combermere Arms offers a very local option, being just 500 yards from the entrance to the estate.

Can I arrange a supermarket delivery?

Yes, you would be welcome to arrange a supermarket delivery for your provisions – we request that these are arranged for once you have arrived to your cottage.

Is there a woodfire in the cottages?

Several of our cottages feature a woodburning stove in the living rooms:

  • Stone Lodge
  • Empress
  • Cotton
  • Wellington

Our other cottages feature either an electric or gas fireplace.
