For 900 years, Combermere Abbey has been carefully tended and carried forward. The new Pavilion is the next chapter, a considered investment in sustainability, craft and the guest experience, designed to make extraordinary celebrations even more so.
The Pavilion is where your wedding day truly comes to life. Located within Combermere’s historic Walled Gardens, it brings the beauty of the surrounding landscape indoors. From dinner to dancing, The Pavilion sets the stage for celebration, and the setting itself has quite a story to tell.
The ground beneath The Pavilion has been cultivated, cherished and transformed over three centuries. The Walled Gardens date back to the 18th century, originally tended by a large team who grew flowers, fruit and vegetables for the main house, and later turned over to grow produce during wartime scarcity.
When Sarah Callander-Beckett returned to the estate in 1992, the revival began. The maze was planted in 1994, the gardens were carefully brought back to life, and the Pavilion found its home at the heart of it all.
The new Pavilion is not a cosmetic refresh; it’s a considered act of stewardship. New sustainable climate control, a state-of-the-art kitchen and thoughtfully designed interiors, all crafted to honour the character of the estate. The Pavilion itself is placed sympathetically at ground level, transient by design, sitting lightly on the land it calls home. In time, it could be lifted away without leaving a trace. The result will be a space that feels timeless and elevated, while remaining entirely and unmistakably Combermere.
We’re delighted to share the first interior mood boards for our new Pavilion, offering an early glimpse into the vision behind the space. While these aren’t the final designs, they capture the look, feel and atmosphere we’re creating.
Inspired by the woodlands, gardens, lake and historic surroundings of Combermere Abbey, the Pavilion will feature a soft, natural palette, elegant finishes and light-filled interiors. The result will be a welcoming space that feels beautifully connected to the gardens, allowing the stunning views to become part of every celebration.

This phase is all about planning and preparation. We’re busy behind the scenes getting everything in place before the build starts in November. Weddings, events, and visits are taking place as normal.
November 2026 – March 2027
The main build runs from 1st November 2026 to March 2027. We’ll share updates throughout the process on our socials. Show rounds continue throughout, and we warmly welcome visits – there is nothing quite like seeing it take shape in person.
Spring 2027
900 years in the making. Brand new today. The new Pavilion opens, the terrace comes together, and every detail is in place. The wait is over.

You can secure your chosen date now with just one deposit, with nothing further to pay until 2027.
1st November 2026 to 31st March 2027.
It will be in the same location as the current Pavilion, in the Walled Gardens. The interior footprint will remain the same.
Yes! We will be holding regular show rounds, allowing you to experience the venue in-person and see the work we’re undertaking. You can also stay the night in our on-site holiday cottages, giving you the opportunity to explore the estate at a relaxed pace.
Yes! You can book your wedding for any time after March 2027.
Your wedding day is completely unaffected by the development works. The build takes place within a defined window (1st November 2026 – 31st March 2027), and everything outside of it continues exactly as planned.
We are committed to keeping all booked couples informed as the project progresses, so keep your eyes on your inbox for regular updates.
