Chester Christmas Market

Just a short 35-minute drive away, Chester’s traditional Christmas market is a must-visit. Set against the backdrop of Chester Cathedral, Town Hall and cobbled streets, you’ll find over 70 independent stalls selling handmade crafts, mulled wine, and festive treats. Great for some last-minute shopping or to simply soak up the seasonal spirit. Afterwards spend time exploring the indoor Chester Market, catch a festive film at Chester Picturehouse or a show at The Storyhouse. Lapland Manchester at Capesthorne Hall

The ever-popular Lapland experience has arrived up north and it already promises to be a sellout! This immersive event is the most popular Christmas experience in the UK and we are now thrilled to be situated just 40-minutes from its first location outside London, Capesthorne Hall. Perfect for those with younger children, explore Santa’s snowy woodland village, decorate gingerbread with Mrs. Claus, and even meet the man himself. It’s a magical day out that’s sure to leave little ones spellbound.

Alderford Lake – Christmas at the Lake

Santa’s Island Experience is set to return to Alderford Lake this year, and guests at Combermere are conveniently placed to enjoy it only 4 miles from the estate in Whitchurch. This magical family-friendly experience starts with a boat trip across Alderford Lake, where guests are welcomed by Santa’s elves, before spending time helping in the workshop before meeting Santa himself. Bewilderwood at Christmas

This magical woodland just 15-minutes drive from Combermere, comes alive during the festive season with its unique light trail. Imagine sparkling lights, snowy scenes, and a chance to meet Santa in a truly unique setting. Bewilderwood’s interactive storytelling and whimsical characters will delight kids and grown-ups alike. Combine your visit with some seasonal fayre at the ever-popular Cholmondeley Arms, a short 2-minute drive from Bewilderwood.

 Chester Cathedral – Christmas Services & Carols

For a more traditional festive experience, Chester Cathedral hosts a beautiful programme of carol services and concerts throughout December. Whether you join for a candlelit service or a festive choir performance, it’s a wonderful way to reflect on the season. Alongside the busy calendar of performances, their much-loved Christmas Tree Festival begins late November and runs through to early January.

 Chester Zoo – Lanterns and Light

Experience Chester Zoo in a whole new light. The North West’s must-see festive light experience is back for 2025, with more dates than ever before, and even more magic to discover!
