Rural Detox Activities Near Combermere Abbey

Events - 25.11.22

Spending time to cleanse the palate of your mind and soul is the perfect way to detox from the hectic pace of our everyday life! Moving away from the hustle and bustle of it all, and out into the countryside – even if only for a few days – and immerse oneself in nature once more can really help reset your mind and your body. Trust us! With the new year quickly approaching, there’s no better time to put the focus on your mental health and make sure you kick off 2023 feeling your absolute best.

At Combermere Abbey, we pride ourselves on offering all the ingredients of a wellbeing retreat and encourage all our guests to take the time to relax and indulge in our surroundings – the best of the British countryside. We are so lucky to be surrounded by rolling parkland, ancient woodland, and of course some brilliant local businesses on the estate perimeter that you can visit without using wheels.

Time To Relax… Detox Activities Near Combermere Abbey

The Firs Pottery

Getting involved in a craft is a great way to destress and focus the mind on one specific task. Almost a meditation! One brilliant way to do this is to try your hand at pottery over at our neighbours, The Firs Pottery. Visitors are encouraged to get their hands dirty and release their inner creativity during their very own pottery workshop. Only five minutes from our abbey, we think this is a fantastic way to open your mind and maybe even pick up a new hobby that you can take home with you.

Combermere Arms

Many of our guests tend to venture over to our local pub The Combermere Arms for a drink or bite to eat because it’s just a short walk or drive from your retreat cottage! The pub is a real favourite of ours, and its beautiful location teamed with roaring log fires make it a lovely home from home.

Woodland Walk

Getting outside in the fresh air is proven to be one of the best ways to detox and improve your mental health. At Combermere, you probably know by now that we have the most beautiful woodlands to explore. Our well signed hour-long trail through the ancient woods allows you discover all the sights, sounds and smells of rural Cheshire and Shropshire all year long, and takes you on the journey of being at one with nature. Of course, we always encourage taking your four-legged friend on the adventure too, as there is no better way to destress than a long walk with your best friend. Our cottages are absolutely dog-friendly so you can both enjoy your new year detox retreat.

The Old Piggery Café

Catching up with a friend or loved one over a steaming cup of coffee and delicious home made cake is always good for the soul, and The Old Piggery Café in walking distance and on  the estate is a beautiful place to do just that. Take a relaxed stroll down the estate countryside track, then sit back and enjoy the rolling hills of the Cheshire plains along with a hot drink and a sweet treat. We recommend all of our guests visit here whether for a light lunch or just a cup of tea. It’s delectable!
