Combermere: Not Just For Couples!

Estate - 04.05.18

With our bright and airy Glasshouse and spacious Pavilion, it’s easy to see why couples choose Combermere as their wedding venue. But it’s not just brides and grooms who can enjoy the rolling parklands, stunning country views and rich history of Combermere Abbey – it’s also the perfect destination for a girls’ minibreak!

So Many Cottages… Take Your Pick!

Whether it’s an intimate group of 3 or a large party of 10, we have a completely unique cottage to suit you and your friends. Each restored from Combermere’s formal stables, no two are alike – you can be transported to the sunny shores of the Caribbean in the Stapleton or revel at the regal elegance of the Malbanc as you warm up by the fire. If you’re an even larger group, you can book multiple cottages – size of party is no issue!

Unwind From Home

There’s no need to travel to an expensive spa destination to benefit from relaxing treatments. In fact, there’s no need to step out of your front door! My Personal Sanctuary therapists can be booked directly to your cottage and offer a huge range of professional pamper treatments. What could be better than an organic facial, deep tissue massage or manicure to kick off your girls’ trip?

All Dogs Welcome

If one of you would love to come but hates to leave your four legged friends in the kennels, why not bring them along? All of our cottages are dog-friendly, and will even receive their very own welcoming pooch pack with a sofa cover, bowl and treat! There’s even special areas of the estate where dogs can roam without leads.

Take Your Time

Big city breaks are great for soaking up culture at the theatre, eating at the trendiest restaurants and drinking at the newest bars – but by the time you’ve gone from one busy activity to the other, you’ve hardly had time to say two words to each other! For groups looking to catch up, a peaceful country retreat is definitely the way forward to unwind and have time to talk. And if you’re still looking for a slice of city life, the historic Roman city of Chester is less than 30 miles away offering the luxurious shopping experience of a larger town, but with a quaint and quirky feel with the UK’s only upper level shopping rows, Roman walls and excavated amphitheatre.

Culinary Delights

Whether you’re a lover of good old fashioned pub food or have a favourite recipe you always indulge in when you’re together, you can do as you please! The Combermere Arms is only a short drive away – ideal for gastro pub classics like beer battered fish and chips and more adventurous twists like the pork and chorizo burger topped with Manchego – or for those looking for finer dining, try Docket No. 33 for roast veal fillet with watercress purée and smoked mushrooms, Residence for top quality deli boards or indulgent lobster thermidor, or Etzio for the ultimate homemade Italian experience. And for afternoon tea – a girls’ weekend must – Alderford Lake is an idyllic spot for top quality bakes.

All of our cottages are also self-catering with modern, bespoke kitchens. You can arrange for a supermarket delivery straight to your door, so you can rustle up your classic girls’ night treats. If you’re no Nigella Lawson, don’t worry – you can even hire one of our brilliant catering partners to come and create restaurant-quality food – from canapés, to sit down meals, to buffets – whilst you relax on the sofa with a glass of wine!

Take a Cleansing Breath

As the weather starts to get warmer, the skies get brighter and nature awakens from the slumber of winter, there are few things more cleansing for the soul than the simplicity of a long country walk. When modern life gets on top of us, taking time to be with friends in the beauty of the English countryside is the ultimate remedy. And for those looking to take their time soaking up the great outdoors to the next level, we’re incredibly lucky to be surrounded by action packed country pursuits – including shooting, skydiving and hot air balloon rides, which you can find out more in our previous blog.

Nights In > Nights Out

Let’s be honest here, we ALL know that the best part of a night out is getting ready at home with your girls before – so why not make your whole evening a night in and make the most of it? You could have a classic girly movie night, or go for something a little different and organise a life drawing session, crafting evening or a murder mystery night!
