Autumn Staycation Holidays At Combermere Abbey

Estate - 10.08.20

Autumn is drawing closer every day, and we can’t stop thinking about the cosy nights and falling leaves. There really is no better place for an autumn staycation holiday than at Combermere Abbey. Our self-catering, dog-friendly cottages are the perfect base for exploring in the day, then snuggling up in the evening. For couples and friends, the North Wing oozes romance and the warm and rich colours that autumn promises compliments the historic gothic architecture perfectly. It really is a very comfortable and elegant retreat.

The truth is, stays at Combermere are magical all year round. However, there’s something about autumn stays that we simply adore. There’s plenty of autumn-themed activities to get stuck into such as woodland walks, bike rides through the woods and picnic dates by the lakeside.

To celebrate the beginning of autumn, we’re currently offering 10% off stays in September and October, just make sure you book before 28th August (click here to book direct). First, we want to bring you into the world of Autumn staycation holidays at Combermere Abbey, and all their delights.

Why We Love The Idea Of An Autumn Staycation

Staycations have been very popular this year, more and more people are falling in love with the idea of appreciating what’s on their doorstep, rather than jetting off somewhere. This is music to our ears, as we offer the most fantastic staycation retreat which really allows you to immerse yourself in nature and enjoy the simple pleasures in life.

Combermere Abbey is ideally positioned in the heart of the countryside and nestled on the Cheshire/Shropshire border. Meaning it’s close enough to local attractions, but also brings you away from the hustle and bustle of life to enjoy some quiet time for reflection and to create wonderful memories with your favourite people.

Autumn breaks are one of our favourites, because the weather is typically still moderate, meaning you can be outside for most of the day. But at the same time, there’s a magic lingering in the air. As the leaves start to fall, everywhere is dusted with rich and warm colours. Woodland walks at this time of year are truly stunning and are the perfect way to relieve the stress of the past year.

What To Do At Combermere Abbey In The Autumn

Whether you’re here for a weekend or a full week or even longer, there’s always plenty to do at Combermere Abbey. The cottages are entirely self-catering, meaning they can be your home from home, the only difference being is you leave your worries at the door. The North Wing, on the other hand, exudes luxury and is perfect for a special getaway. One thing is for sure though, whichever accommodation you choose, both are particularly special for autumn staycation breaks.

If you’re planning on staying around the Combermere estate, some things you can do include…

* Woodland autumn walks (even bring your family dog along)

* Tennis in the courts (currently, you will need to bring your own rackets)

* Bike rides around the estate and through the woods

* Afternoon Tea in the Combermere gardens (with Fiona Hackshall)

* Board games in the cottages (currently, you’ll need to bring your own along due to Covid restrictions)

* Cottage garden dining and BBQs

Or if you want to explore beyond the estate, some local activities you can do include…

* Chester Zoo is around 45 minutes away from Combermere
